Minor 7ths – Playing by Ear Down

In this lesson you will hear Minor 7ths played downwards (descending) and play them on your instrument.

Minor 7th – down

When trying to recognize a Minor 7th going down, we will again use the “complete the melody” strategy.

When you hear a Minor 7th, attempt to imagine what note would naturally follow.

Minor 7th Melody

When you complete the melody, you can hear that the second interval is a Whole Step.

This means that the larger interval that was played first is a Minor 7th.
