C and D Naming Written Notes

Now we will learn the basics of reading music.

The five lines that everything rests on are called the Staff.

This is called a Treble Clef. The Clef indicates whether the notes will be high or low in pitch.

Notes on the Treble Clef are high in pitch.

This is called a Barline.

A barline devides the music into short blocks called Measures.

Last but not least, this is a Note.

Now we will learn Middle C which looks like an olive with a toothpick through it.

It hangs off the bottom of the staff.

Next we will learn D.

On the Treble Clef, D barely touches the bottom line of the staff.
